When using the current method to compress the low frame rate video animation video, there is no frame rate compensation for the video image, which cannot eliminate the artifacts generated in the compression process, resulting in low definition, poor quality, and low compression efficiency of the compressed low frame rate video animation video. In the context of new media, the linear function model is introduced to study the frame rate video animation video compression algorithm. In this paper, an adaptive detachable convolutional network is used to estimate the offset of low frame rate video animation using local convolution. According to the estimation results, the video frames are compensated to eliminate the artifacts of low frame rate video animation. After the frame rate compensation, the low frame rate video animation video is divided into blocks, the CS value of the image block is measured, the linear estimation of the image block is carried out by using the linear function model, and the compression of the low frame rate video animation video is completed according to the best linear estimation result. The experimental results show that the low frame rate video and animation video compressed by the proposed algorithm have high definition, high compression quality under different compression ratios, and high compression efficiency under different compression ratios.

Generation of a Panorama Compatible with the JPEG 360 International Standard Using a Single PTZ Camera

Recently, the JPEG working group (ISO/IEC JTC1 SC29 WG1) developed an international standard, JPEG 360, that specifies the metadata and functionalities for saving and sharing 360-degree images efficiently to create a more realistic environment in various virtual reality services. We surveyed the metadata formats of existing 360-degree images and compared them to the JPEG 360 metadata format. We found that existing omnidirectional cameras and stitching software packages use formats that are incompatible with the JPEG 360 standard to embed metadata in JPEG image files. This paper proposes an easy-to-use tool for embedding JPEG 360 standard metadata for 360-degree images in JPEG image files using a JPEG-defined box format: the JPEG universal metadata box format. The proposed implementation will help 360-degree cameras and software vendors provide immersive services to users in a standardized manner for various markets, such as entertainment, education, professional training, navigation, and virtual and augmented reality applications. We also propose and develop an economical JPEG 360 standard compatible panoramic image acquisition system from a single PTZ camera with a special-use case of a wide field of view image of a conference or meeting. A remote attendee of the conference/meeting can see the realistic and immersive environment through our PTZ panorama in virtual reality.

Storage and transport of six degrees of freedom (6DoF) dynamic volumetric visual content for immersive applications requires efficient compression. ISO/IEC MPEG has recently been working on a standard that aims to efficiently code and deliver 6DoF immersive visual experiences. This standard is called the MIV. MIV uses regular 2D video codecs to code the visual data. MPEG jointly with ITU-T VCEG, has also specified the VVC standard. VVC introduced recently the concept of subpicture. This tool was specifically designed to provide independent accessibility and decodability of sub-bitstreams for omnidirectional applications. This paper shows the benefit of using subpictures in the MIV use-case. While different ways in which subpictures could be used in MIV are discussed, a particular case study is selected. Namely, subpictures are used for parallel encoding and to reduce the number of decoder instances. Experimental results show that the cost of using subpictures in terms of bitrate overhead is negligible (0.1% to 0.4%), when compared to the overall bitrate. The number of decoder instances on the other hand decreases by a factor of two.
