Multiple S-Layer Proteins of Brevibacillus laterosporus as Virulence Factors against Insects

Abstract: S-layers are involved in the adaptation of bacteria to the outside environment and in pathogenesis, often representing special virulence factors. Vegetative cells of the entomopathogenic bacterium Brevibacillus laterosporus are characterized by an overproduction of extracellular surface layers that are released in the medium during growth.
