Multiple‐stimulus‐without‐replacement preference assessment tool

Abstract: The purpose of the present article is to disseminate a free, interactive web-based multiple-stimulus-without-replacement preference assessment (MSWO) program. The MSWO Preference Assessment Tool allows practitioners and researchers to assess video preferences using thumbnails and their corresponding videos. The program allows users to upload videos, select assessment parameters, conduct assessments, and download results. The program's functions and user instructions are described.

“…Though the web-based assessment was useful in identifying preferences for videos, it had three major limitations: (a) the process for uploading videos involved multiple steps, (b) the program did not have the capability to support a large volume of users, and (c) the program was not accessible to the public. These limitations were recently overcome with the development of the Multiple-Stimulus-Without-Replacement Preference Assessment Tool 2 (MSWO PAT; Curiel, Curiel, Adame, et al, 2020), which (a) has user-friendly functions that allow users to upload videos, create video libraries, and assign and adjust assessment parameters; (b) can support a large number of users; and (c) is accessible to the public at no cost. The program also provides assessment outcomes following each assessment, converts the graphs to portable network graphic (PNG) files, and includes the code within the program.…”

“…The MSWO PAT has not been systematically evaluated to determine its validity in identifying preferred stimuli that subsequently function as reinforcers. Thus, the primary purpose of this study was to extend the work of Curiel, Curiel, Adame, et al (2020) by validating the MSWO PAT. The second purpose of the study was to extend the use of conjugate schedules of reinforcement within reinforcer assessments.…”
