Multitasked maintenance crews to serve emergency scenarios in electric distribution utilities

Abstract: This paper proposes a mathematical model to handle emergency service requests in electric power distribution utilities. Given available maintenance crews and their already assigned service orders, a mathematical model based on mixed integer linear programming is developed to solve the dynamic vehicle routing problem related to the task of deciding which maintenance crew will complete each pending emergency service request. One key aspect refers to the real-time constraint, what means that computational system … Show more

“…This paper continues a previous work of Garcia et al [15] to discuss the consequences of considering not only the minimization of distance traveled or latency but also a tradeoff between them. With this assumption, first the emergency work order dispatch problem is re-defined, following the main conceptions of Garcia et al [15], followed by the computational results and conclusions.…”

“…Since this work represents a future work of that defined in Garcia et al [15], the same mathematical model was assumed, only incorporating three criteria included in a new objective function: the first, weighted by W 1 , corresponds to the latency cost of all emergency orders; the second, weighted by W 2 , includes the cost of all routes; the third, weighted by W 3 , aims to reduce the delay when considering the time when a commercial order i is completed and the end time of each route. Equation (1) has presented that new objective function.…”
