Multivariate Contrasts of Seven Strawberry Cultivars in Soilless Cultivation and Greenhouse in Southern Brazil

Abstract: Understanding the performance of strawberry cultivars in response to the evolving environment and growth medium is a key factor in choosing materials with the aptitude to serve the consumer market. Here, we investigated whether strawberry cultivars in soilless cultivation and greenhouse differ in their agronomic potential. We have studied seven cultivars in an experiment designed in randomized blocks, with four replications. We used analysis of variance and multivariate to examine production attributes, the ch… Show more

“…consumption has increased worldwide, since they are known as rich source of fibers, vitamins, phytochemicals, and other bioactive compounds. This search for foods rich in biomolecules with healthpromoting activities, together with the choice of genotypes adapted to the agroecosystems in which they are grown, reinforces the development of studies linked to the yield and phytochemical profile of strawberries (Chiomento et al 2023a).…”

“…This system in substrate is a response to increased yields and better ergonomics for producers. On the other hand, most producers who adopt this system use chemical inputs on a large scale, and this can lead to environmental contamination [2]. Thus, we need to establish better management practices for agroecosystems, which can be boosted by the use of biostimulants, e.g., arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), Ascophyllum nodosum (L.) Le Jolis, and Trichoderma harzianum Rifai.…”
