Abstract: Mobile genetic elements such as plasmids play a crucial role in the emergence of antimicrobial resistance. Hence, plasmid maintenance proteins like ParA of the Walker A type cytoskeletal ATPases/ ParA superfamily are potential targets for novel antibiotics.
