This study investigated the evaluation of science activities held over one day at the natural history museum (NHM) in a rural part of Turkey. The purpose of the research was to determine one day science activities in NHM through students' expectations, observations, feelings, learning experiences, and their effect on their academic achievement and explore teachers' views about the process. Middle school students (n=125) and their teachers (n=8) participated the activities. Qualitative dominant (QUAL+quan) parallel convergent design, one of the mixed research methods, was used in the research. Four different data collection tools (achievement test and three semistructured interview forms) were used. According to the results, the activities had a positive effect on the academic achievement of middle school students. It also helped them gain more profound experiences about the components of nature and develop more positive emotions. Prior to the science activities, the students expected to focus on observations and examinations. They emphasized the activities they conducted to collect and analyze fossils more strongly after the completion of activities. Teachers stated that science activities in the museum increased the active participation and interest of the students compared to the classroom environment and enabled them to provide awareness towards the environment and science.

Bu çalışmanın amacı enerji santrallerine yapılan gezilerle, öğrencilerin enerji kaynaklarının hangi tür enerji kaynağı olduğuna yönelik bilgi düzeylerine ve farkındalıklarına etkisini tespit etmektir. Ayrıca rüzgâr enerji santraline (RES) yapılan gezi ile öğrencilerin rüzgâr enerji santrallerine yönelik bilgi düzeylerini gözden geçirmelerini sağlamak, bu yapılara ilişkin öğrenme ihtiyaçlarını belirlemek ve etkinlik sonucunda bilgi düzeylerinin nasıl değiştiğini tespit etmektir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden temel nitel araştırma yaklaşımı kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklem grubunu 2022 yılında TÜBİTAK 4004 Doğa Eğitimi ve Bilim Okulları kapsamında desteklenin doğa eğitimi projesine katılan 30 ortaokul öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma verileri Bilgi-İstek-Öğrenme kartlarıyla ve Enerji Kaynağı Türü anketi ile toplanmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen verilerin analizinde betimsel ve içerik analizi yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda okul dışı öğrenme ortamlarına yapılan eğitim planlı gezilerin katılımcıların enerji kaynağı türleri konusunda ve rüzgâr enerji santrallerine yönelik bilimsel okuryazarlık ve farkındalık düzeylerine önemli katkısının olduğu söylenebilir.

Museums are institutions that have become part of education today and provide first-hand experience. The individuals who interact with objects in museums participate in the learning process by living. In the developed countries in Europe and America, museums are being used from preschool period. In order for individuals to gain museum culture at a young age and to become a museum consumer in adulthood; individuals should be introduced in the preschool with museums. For this, there is a need for teachers who know the importance of museum education and benefit from museums for educational purposes in preschool period. The aim of this study is to reveal the opinions and experiences of preschool teachers about education and museum. In this research, phenomenology is used. Case studies focus on the experiences of individuals related to a case. The participants of the research designed with phenomenology were determined by criterion sampling from purposeful sampling methods. In this context, the institution in Küçükçekmece was held with six teachers working in different kindergartens and elementary schools. The semistructured interview form developed by the researcher was used to collect the data. In the analysis of the data, the phenomenology analysis was used. As a result of the research, it was revealed that all teachers who participated in the research benefited from the museums for sightseeing purposes, regardless of the socioeconomic level of the school's enviroment. It was determined that the teachers in the school with low socioeconomic environment had less knowledge and awareness about museums and they benefited less from the museums.
