N-Propylcarbamothioyl benzamide complex of Bi(III) supported on superparamagnetic Fe3O4/SiO2 nanoparticles as a highly efficient and magnetically recoverable heterogeneous nanocatalyst for the one-pot synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones/thiones (DHPMs) via the Biginelli reaction

Abstract: The N-propylcarbamothioyl benzamide complex of Bi(III) immobilized on silica coated Fe 3 O 4 magnetic nanoparticles has been prepared as a highly efficient and recyclable heterogeneous nanocatalyst using simple processes for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones/thiones via a one-pot multicomponent condensation reaction of urea, aldehydes and b-dicarbonyl compounds under solvent-free conditions at 100°C. The structural and magnetic properties of the nanocatalyst were characterized using various tech… Show more

“…This method furnished products in poor yield in the case of aliphatic and substituted aromatics aldehydes . Due to their important medicinal activities, several improved protocols have been reported in the presence of Bronsted and Lewis acids . Despite their excellent catalytic activity, severe problems associated with them including harsh reaction condition, difficulty in separation, high cost, recycling and recovery of catalyst are a major concern and especially some environmental considerations.…”

“…Further, the catalyst could be effortlessly recovered from the reaction media with negligible activity loss after at least five times. [ 45 ] Azarifar et al developed a highly efficient, green, and straightforward method for the one‐pot Bigineeli reaction to synthesize dihydropyrimidinones using new Fe 3‐x Ti x O 4 @SO 3 H MNPs as an efficient and recyclable heterogeneous magnetic nanocatalyst. The catalytic ability of the nanocatalyst is greatly increased under solvent‐free conditions.…”
