Nano-Fe3O4@SiO2-supported boron sulfonic acid as a novel magnetically heterogeneous catalyst for the synthesis of pyrano coumarins

Abstract: A novel magnetically heterogeneous catalyst based on the immobilization of boron sulfonic acid onto Fe3O4@SiO2 nanoparticles (Fe3O4@SiO2–BSA) is reported. It was characterized via FT-IR, XRD, SEM, EDS, and VSM analysis.

“…The reaction between 3 , methyl α‐cyanoacetate ester, and cinnamaldehyde did not form the desired product; in contrast, compound 15 was obtained from the Knoevenagel condensation of methyl α‐cyanoacetate ester and cinnamaldehyde. Since the cyclization step might occur via a Michael addition mechanism, the strong electron delocalization in 15 presumably reduced its reactivity in the presence of phloroglucinol. The reaction procedure herein used for the preparation of compounds 4 – 15 obtained with moderate to high yield was previously reported in the literature …”

“…[9][10][11] Easy separation from the reaction mixture with an external magnet is an important superiority of these nanocatalysts. [17,18] 11Н-indeno [1,2-b] quinoxalin-2-one is widely used for preparation of diverse derivatives exhibiting a wide range of biological activity. [12][13][14] Nanoparticles such as γ-Fe 2 O 3 can be easily functionalized by linker groups which can fictionalized by a range of different organocatalysts.…”

“…In continuation of our efforts to design, synthesis and application of novel nanocatalyst, 20,21 we have immobilized sodium carbonate on silica-coated Fe 3 O 4 magnetic nanoparticles (Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 @(CH 2 ) 3 OCO 2 Na) and then investigated its performance as novel strong, recoverable, and stable basic nanocatalyst for synthesis of new pyranocoumarin derivatives.…”
