Nano-Scale Multi-Layered Coatings for Cutting Tools Generated Using Assisted Filtered Cathodic-Vacuum-Arc Deposition (AFCVAD)

Abstract: The subject of this study were nano-nanoscale multilayer coatings formed using the process of filtered cathodic vacuum arc deposition in assisting high-energy ions of chromium. We used a special emitter (implantor) to generate chromium ions with high energy. Such key parameters of coatings as composition, structure, a thickness, hardness, adhesion in relation to a substrate obtained at various energy of chrome ions have been studied. It is establish the positive change of key properties of coating deposited o… Show more

“…Using this concept of dual nature, functional requirements for coatings for cutting tools were derived to prove the concept of multilayer composite coatings with nanoscale structure [1,4,5,[7][8][9]. This concept of multiple nano-layered composite stipulates that the coatings should be based on two/three components structure consisting of an adhesive underlayer, intermediate layer and the outer wear-resistant layer.…”

“…A new technology based on the filtered cathodic vacuum arc deposition (FCVAD), [3,4,7] was used to deposit the coatings on selected tools. The FCVAD technology allows creating a solid coating adhesion to the substrate, high density and hardness that provides a substantial increase of cutting efficiency.…”

“…An experimental analysis was done on different MMCs and it was found that metal cracks always prompted for the period of the matrix crossing points and also based on the bonding of the particle [18][19][20][21] . Similarly, Nano mixed materials and lubricants are used as fillers and nano agents in nanocomposites and nano fluids to change the different properties and heat transfer rates in different fields like mechanical, aeronautical, electrical and electronics [22][23][24][25] . Similarly, polymer reinforced nanocomposites with inorganic nanoparticles are much better due to their light weight, homogeneity, low cost and simple physical properties [26][27][28][29] .…”

“…[16][17][18] Multi ingredients coatings were prepared and the weight of substrate prejudice with various parameters was analyzed and found that the different parameters like hardness, toughness, etc were significantly improved. 19,20 Cutting tools with the ceramic material are having a property of high-speed processing and normally it won't promise the reliability level of cutting process as needed.…”
