Nanobiotechnology for the Detection and Control of Waterborne Parasites

Abstract: Nowadays, the fast development of nanobiotechnology, has led to rapid diagnosis of important infectious diseases such as arboviruses-borne diseases, vector-borne infections and waterborne parasites diseases and others in order to reduce and avoid further dissemination of the infections within the general population. Furthermore, new nanomedicines based on the application of silver and gold nanoparticles which are less toxic, more effective, and that does not generate resistance could help to solve the problems… Show more

“…Nanoparticles such as copper, gold, and silver as well as zinc oxide, magnesium oxide, and titanium dioxide have been employed and modified for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes over the years. They are also efficient against sensitive and multidrug-resistant bacterial strains as nanobactericides and nanocarriers [14]. The electrical, optical, physical, chemical and thermal properties of NPs influence the production and utility of metal-derived materials.…”

“…Briefly, the plants implemented in the green synthesis of AgNPs to assess their anti-parasitic potentials and insecticidal activities were listed in tables (1 and 2), respectively. Furthermore, the parasites affected by AgNPs were gathered in table (3), while arthropods disrupted by such NPs were listed in table (4).…”

“…The world is exposed to innumerable and unprecedented challenges due to increasing climate change, land constraints, increasing population, industrialization, low productivity, and high postharvest losses [6].Over the past few years, the interest of material scientists for metal nanoparticles has been booming because of its unique physicochemical characteristics such as a high specific surface area and a high fraction of surface atoms [7]. Nanotechnology is necessarily a multidisciplinary field which encompasses and draws from the knowledge of several diverse scientific fields of study including chemistry [8][9], physics, molecular biology, material science [10], medicine, pharmacy [11][12] and agriculture [13][14]. Nanotechnology is a promising tool of precise farming techniques has the potential to improve global food production and food quality through increased plant protection, detection of diseases, monitoring plant growth, and reduced waste for strengthening agriculture sustainability [15].…”
