Nanobiotechnology in Agricultural Sector: Overview and Novel Applications

Abstract: The agricultural sector has many problems achieving the desired yield in products because of pathogens, viruses, pesticides, herbicides, temperature, soil moisture, among others. Nanotechnology, along with other sciences, has emerged in industry and society due to the interest in solving problems such as those mentioned above, in order to serve the needs of the world population. The present review discusses the principal topics about Nanobiotechnology, such as generalities, applications, aspects that can be im… Show more

“…The costs associated with the fabrication of nanobiosensors are still a challenge and they need to be lowered. For this reason, other less expensive biological components may be used, such as cells or enzymes, novel matrices for stabilization, and the use of chitosan for the immobilization of nanomaterials to improve the stability and reusability of nanobiosensors (Alvarado et al, 2019). The efficient utilization associated with validamycin of nano-silica is for the regulated pesticides dissolved in water.…”

“…It is also imperative for potential manufacturers to make sure that production costs can be affordable in rural areas. Reusability and long-term stability of nanobiosensors can also reduce cost [ 111 ]. Another challenge includes the scaling-up process which ensures that mass productions component for nanobiosenors should have the same properties and working action as verified in the basic laboratory condition.…”

“…The consumption of nanoparticle-exposed produce or packaged foods could lead to damage to organs, DNA, and cellular structures. Given the limited understanding of interactions between nanoparticles and cells, it is imperative to engage in research aimed at developing strategies to mitigate and manage the harm caused by nanoparticles to ecosystems, including microorganisms and human health [50].…”
