Abstract:The silver (Ag) powder was synthesised in a mechano-chemical (MC) process by inducing a solid-state displacement reaction between silver chloride (AgCl) and copper (Cu). The AgCl and Cu were ground in atmosphere conditions using a planetary ball mill. The reaction caused the mixture of AgCl and Cu to change the composition of the mixture, such as Ag and copper chloride (CuCl). CuCl was separated from MC product by leaching with ammonium hydroxide and we obtained Ag powder as the final product. Moreover, ascorb… Show more
“…7 The reduction is nowadays employed as a synthesis method of fine particles of silver (Ag). 8,9 MSRs have been used for materials synthesis for a variety of applications such as refractories, 10,11 optical devices 12–14 and lithium-ion batteries. 15…”
We investigated in situ the mechanical reduction of silver chloride with aluminum using synchrotron X-ray diffraction with thermography at SPring-8 BL02B2. A mechanically induced self-sustaining reaction (MSR) was observed for...

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
