Abstract:Nanosized ultrathin magnetic films were prepared by controlling the deposition of Fe onto an oxidized NiAl(001) surface with an alumina nanostructure on it. Because the ultrathin ferromagnetic Fe films on the bare NiAl(001) surface are separated by paramagnetic Fe nanoparticles on the alumina stripes, as determined by scanning electron microscopy with spin analysis, they form rectangular domains with sizes ranging from tens of nanometer to larger than a micrometer. Magnetic domain patterning can thus be achiev… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
