Nanopore/Nanosphere‐Induced Optical Enhancement of Monolayer MoS2

Abstract: Heterostructured transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have received much attention due to their tunable optical and electronic properties. Here, a strategy for facile fabrication of porous anodic alumina (PAA) membrane‐supported monolayer molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) is described. PAA is either empty or filled with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). Such nanopore/nanosphere‐supported MoS2 (i.e., PAA‐MoS2 and PAA‐Au‐MoS2) exhibits greatly enhanced optical performances compared with those of silicon wafer‐supported M… Show more

“…Two-dimensional materials represented by graphene exhibit unique optoelectronic properties due to their unique structure and quantum confinement effects. Their nonlinear optical properties and applications are also extensively studied by researchers [ 10 , 11 , 12 ]. The low thermal, chemical, and mechanical stability of saturable absorption based on noble metals and new two-dimensional materials limits its application in extreme working environments [ 13 ].…”

“…9,10 In addition, MoS 2 has an adjustable bandgap (1.2–1.9 eV), broad wavelength absorption (350–1000 nm), and excellent photoelectric conversion performance. 11 Due to its outstanding optical and electrical properties, MoS 2 has been widely investigated as an absorption layer for photodetectors. 12–14…”
