“…For the Bi-Fe 78 B 13 Si 9 system, the mixing enthalpies of Bi-Fe [17], Bi-B [18], and Bi-Si [19] are all positive, implying lacking of chemical affinity between Bi and the components in the Fe 78 B 13 Si 9 alloy. Therefore, only physical interaction was developed at the interface and molten Bi cannot spread on the Fe 78 B 13 Si 9 surfaces, regardless of the changes in their structures, phases and grain sizes as a function of T a .…”

“…Over the last years it has become apparent that compounds ground or synthesized by high-energy ball milling often show a change in their properties, e.g., an enhanced ionic conductivity, compared to their micro- or monocrystalline counterparts prepared by conventional solid state synthesis routines. Furthermore, the synthesis of compounds conducted by mechanical treatment of the starting materials, the so-called mechanosynthesis, is known to be a very efficient technique for the preparation of metastable, partly new, compounds. A well-known specialty of this technique is the preparation of solid solutions of normally immiscible or hardly miscible phases. In this respect, the BaF 2 –LaF 3 system is of particular interest. Ba 1– x La x F 2+ x crystallizes in the fluorite structure (space group Fm 3̅ m ) for compositions x ≲ 0.55 , and in the tysonite structure (space group P 3̅ c 1) for x ≳ 0.85 , .…”

“…This phenomenon has also been observed in the decomposed Co-Cu solid solution [25]. Lyakhov et al [26] have also observed by Mössbauer spectrum that the Fe-Bi sample firstly formed nanosized mechanocomposite even the XRD peaks of bismuth became invisible in the diffraction patterns. These lead us to give a more careful analysis of the structure for the asmilled sample.…”
