Nanotechnological approaches to address photosensitizers’ limitations: towards improved clinical applicability of photodynamic therapy

Abstract: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) uses a combination of molecular oxygen, light and a photosensitizer (PS) to generate singlet oxygen or reactive oxygen species (ROS), which can eradicate tumoral cells.
