Nanotechnology development in surgical applications: recent trends and developments

Farzad Abaszadeh,
Muhammad Hossein Ashoub,
Ghazal Khajouie
et al.

Abstract: This paper gives a detailed analysis of nanotechnology's rising involvement in numerous surgical fields. We investigate the use of nanotechnology in orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, surgical oncology, heart surgery, vascular surgery, ophthalmic surgery, thoracic surgery, and minimally invasive surgery. The paper details how nanotechnology helps with arthroplasty, chondrogenesis, tissue regeneration, wound healing, and more. It also discusses the employment of nanomaterials in implant surfaces… Show more

“…The decrease in the activity of protein oxidation in the research group, under the same other conditions of the experiment in both groups, can be explained by the local effect of the inhibitor of oxidation reactions used in the ligatures. The increased activity of protein oxidation can disrupt the regeneration [26]. This could possibly account for the findings observed in the histological examination of the control group -the gaps between the fibers of the ligatures and the channel formed by the ligatures.…”

“…The presented way of influencing the regeneration of a sutured wound of the bowel wall and other similar known ways [18][19][20][21][22][23][24]26,27] are aimed at optimizing regeneration processes. The advantage of such ways, including ours, over ways based on the modification of bowel sutures [3,15,16,20] is that the regression of inflammation is accelerated, and the formation of connective tissue is stimulated.…”
