Não tinha trabalho, mas tinha reciclagem: sentidos do trabalho de catadores de materiais recicláveis

Abstract

ResumoEsta pesquisa retrata a luta de trabalhadores que, diante do desemprego, encontraram na catação de materiais recicláveis sua sobrevivência e de seus familiares. A pesquisa buscou compreender os sentidos atribuídos pelos catadores ao trabalho de catador de material reciclável. Para isso, foi realizada uma pesquisa de campo com abordagem qualitativa, utilizando a técnica das "histórias de vida" com a participação de dois catadores. As "histórias de vida" permitem a compreensão dinâmica das relações estabelecidas no passado e no presente, trazendo uma refl exão acerca das experiências pessoais. Para a análise dos dados foi usado o método de "análise de discursos". Os resultados desta pesquisa apontaram diversas difi culdades enfrentadas por estes trabalhadores no dia-a-dia, como as exaustivas horas de trabalho, a insegurança e a instabilidade frente à atividade. Além disso, destaca-se uma relação ambígua de satisfação e sofrimento com a catação, o que revela a existência de sentidos diversos, inclusive contraditórios, atribuídos ao trabalho de catador. É possível concluir que esta atividade manifesta-se como uma forma de resistência frente ao desemprego prolongado e que foi através da informalidade do trabalho que os catadores resgataram suas fontes de renda. Esta pesquisa buscou dar visibilidade aos catadores e apontou a necessidade de se propiciar melhores condições para o exercício da atividade. Satisfaction and dissatisfaction in the work of recyclable solid waste segregators: convergent-care research
