Naphthalene Diimide‐Based Molecules for Efficient and Stable Perovskite Solar Cells

Abstract: Naphthalene‐diimide (NDI)‐based molecules have shown an interesting behaviour within the field of perovskite solar cells, thanks to their promising application as electron transporting materials. In this paper, three novel NDI‐containing molecules are synthesized and fully characterized, more specifically two polymers and an analogue small molecule. Each one of the NDI units contains an amine, either tertiary or quaternary, which is a moiety known for improving the conductivity. The newly synthesized compounds… Show more

“…8). 116 The main aim of designing these materials was to use them as buffer layers between fullerene and the metal cathode to improve the performance of PSCs. P1 was an ammonium-bearing NDI polymer, together with its ternary amine polymer counterpart, P0, and its small molecule analogue, M1 (Note: For structures of P0 and P1, see Fig.…”

“…Research led to halogen-modified structures, to study the effect on binding substrates and predict possible device assembly capabilities and performance (Hu et al, 2012;Tyson et al, 2016b). Studies on the incorporation of NDIs in a BHJ OPV in conjunction with a standard p-type material are underway (Rundel et al, 2017;Valero et al, 2020).…”
