Abstract:The synthesis of a series of 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid derivatives is described. These have been used to form supramolecular main-chain liquid crystalline polymers. These hydrogen bond donors are complexed with a series of bisfunctionalized rigid pyridine species. These associative chain structures were analyzed through differential scanning calorimetry and polarizing light thermal optical microscopy. The liquid crystalline phases formed displayed mainly enantiotropic nematic phases that display an increase i… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
