Regardless of the surgical approach, and the strength of evidence for or against surgical intervention for management of OPMD, it is clear that better outcomes are expected when a lesion can be fully visualised and completely excised with clear margins (Farah, ; Farah, Kordbacheh, John, Bennett, & Fox, ).
