NASA aeronautical noise research

Abstract: This paper presents a broad historical overview of NASA's major aircraft noise research program, and the advances and contributions made to the understanding, prediction, and reduction of aeronautical noise. Major programs including Quiet Nacelle, Quiet Engine, Refan, and the Aircraft Noise Prediction Program (ANOPP) are described and their role in the technology transfer process is discussed.
