Natural and Synthetic Polymers Modified with Acid Blue 113 for Removal of Cr3+, Zn2+ and Mn2+

Abstract: This research had two stages of development: during the first stage, the purpose of the research was to evaluate the adsorption properties of the natural polymer represented by shredded maize stalk (MS) and by Amberlite XAD7HP (XAD7HP) acrylic resin for removal of toxic diazo Acid Blue 113 (AB 113) dye from aqueous solutions. The AB 113 concentration was evaluated spectrometrically at 565 nm. In the second stage, the stability of MS loaded with AB 113 (MS-AB 113) and of XAD7HP loaded with AB 113 (XAD7HP-AB 113… Show more

“…The calibration curve A = 0.0410 C − 0.2690 was used for the quantitative determination of DR 23, where C (mg/L) is the concentration of DR 23 in the supernatant solution. Additionally, the limit of determination (LD) was 0.73 mg/L DR 23 (corresponding to ten times of standard deviation of the blank solution measured at 507 nm) [18].…”

“…Therefore, the need to develop new ecological and efficient resins for the removal of heavy metal ions from wastewater will always be in the interest of technological researchers. To obtain a chelating resin, a symbiosis between the resin matrix and the functionalization agents is required [ 26 ]. Moreover, the presence of aromatic rings of the chelating agents and the resin structure based on styrene-divinylbenzene is a promising symbiosis for obtaining new chelating materials through adsorption studies [ 27 , 28 , 29 ].…”

“…Recently, Nicoleta Mirela Marin [ 48 ] developed natural and acrylic polymers with diazo acid Blue 11 (AB 113) as a chelating reagent to selectively remove metal ions; Zn 2+ , Mn 2+ , and Cr 3+ from acid polluted wastewater.…”
