Natural backgrounds and reference values of trace-element in earth murundus fields on the Southern Amazon

Abstract: Earth mounds fields are wetlands characterized by having a plan relief interspersed with mounds. The knowledge of the levels of trace elements in this environment is important to support sustainable management in areas subject to human intervention in order to reconcile the productive demand and environmental conservation. The objective of this study was to determine the levels and establishing baseline values for trace elements (Zn, Ni, Cu, Cr, Pb, As, Cd, and Se), Fe and Mn in the earth mounds fields soils o… Show more

“…1016/j.jenvman.2018.05.048 Received 20 March 2018Received in revised form 14 May 2018;Accepted 15 May 2018 While the PV and IV are established by the CONAMA Resolution (human health-based risk), and valid for the whole country, whereas QRV must be determined by each state (CONAMA, 2009). Consequently, studies have been carried out to establish QRV for some Brazilian regions (Paye et al, 2010;Biondi et al, 2011;Santos and Alleoni, 2012;Gabos et al, 2014;Oliveira et al, 2014;Preston et al, 2014;Almeida Júnior et al, 2016;Silva et al, 2017). However, a lot of areas have been partially or totally neglected.…”

“…Knowing the trace elements contents in soils with no or minimal human activity is important when verifying contamination in soils, since these values can be used in adopting preventive practices, control mitigation and in the identification, monitoring and the recovering of contaminated areas (SILVA et al, 2017;NOGUEIRA et al, 2018). All over the world, the comparison of trace elements content with the standard values established by legislation is often used for checking the soil contamination and thus characterize the potential risk (MAZHARI et al, 2017).…”
