Natural Gas-Oxygen Combustion in a Super-Critical Carbon Dioxide Gas Turbine Combustor

Abstract: The paper presents results for chemical kinetics of combustion process in the combustor of oxy-fuel cycle super-critical carbon dioxide gas turbine based on the Allam thermodynamic cycle. The work shows deviation of the normal flame propagation velocity for the case of transition from the traditional natural gas combustion in the N2 diluent environment to the combustion at super-high pressure up to 300 bar in CO2 diluent. The chemical kinetics parametric study involved the Chemkin code with the GRI-Mes… Show more

“…In a recuperative heat exchanger, the recirculation stream is reheated from the hot gases leaving the turbine and enters the combustion chamber at a temperature level of over 700°C. Excess carbon dioxide generated in a semi-closed cycle is sent for recycling [5].…”

“…The most efficient OFES plant is based on the Allam cycle. The efficiency of reducing CO 2 emissions from these plants reaches 99% [6][7] with a net efficiency of 50%. It has been proven that the highest efficiency of an OFES using the Allam cycle is achieved at initial parameters equal to 1100 °C and 30 MPa [8][9].…”

“…The post-combustion technology may employ the membrane [13][14][15] or cryogenic [16,17] separation, or the oxy-fuel combustion capture [18][19][20], or the chemical looping combustion [21][22][23][24], or the chemical reagent absorption like in the pre-combustion capture technology. These technologies may be used for modification of the existing steam turbine and combined cycle power plants, or the new TPP construction.…”
