Abstract: Polyhydroxylated spirostanol saponins, characterized by three or more hydroxy substitutions in the aglycone, have various interesting biological activities. In the present study, “steroids”, “saponins”, “polyhydroxylated”, “spirostanol saponins”, and “steroidal saponins” were used as search terms to screen the literature.
