Navigating Swot-Fanp With GSM Method to Prioritize the Strategic Location

Abstract: Abstract. This paper proposes a SWOT-FANP (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threatsfuzzy analytic network process) analysis, together with the grand strategy matrix method (GSM) to deal with the multiple-criteria decision-making problem of location selection for a second tier city in China. This hybrid method can not only combine both qualitative and quantitative information and utilize fuzzy logic to eliminate vagueness, subjectivity, and imprecision, it can also clearly represents the competitive po… Show more

“…For Lee [148], the main weakness of SWOT is a general dependence of qualitative analysis that simply classified the importance of individual factors without measuring them qualitatively. Shakerian et al [149] implement a hybrid model SWOT -Fuzzy TOPSIS, with the aim of evaluating and classifying the internal-external environment and the commercial strategies in industrial organizations.…”

“…Moreover, several studies in the recent literature demonstrate that the ANP is mostly used for solving the problems have the dependence among the elements under the uncertainty. Therefore, the fuzzy approach to the ANP method could be adapted by considering the inter-dependency among the criteria or alternatives with the linguistic terms HHI-based evaluation (Aya g and Özdemir, 2007;Chang et al, 2015;Chen and Chen, 2010;Da gdeviren et al, 2008;Lee, 2013Lee, , 2015Mohanty et al, 2005;Önüt et al, 2009;Shafiee, 2015;Yüksel and Da gdeviren, 2010). Judgment under a fuzzy environment is generally defined using fuzzy sets and linguistic methods are performed for the weights of the criteria with the ANP method (Ma et al, 2010).…”

“…Incidentally, Saaty (1996) proposed using the ANP in the case of problems that have dependence among the criteria or alternatives. However, studies conducted over the last decade show that the fuzzy-based models have been widely used in the ANP to obtain priorities where there is uncertainty, with inter-dependency among the criteria or alternatives (Ayağ & Özdemir, 2007;Büyüközkan & Çifçi, 2012;Chang, Kuo, Wu, & Tzeng, 2015;Chen & Chen, 2010;Dağdeviren, Yüksel, & Kurt, 2008;Lee, 2013;Lee, 2015;Mohanty, Agarwal, Choudhury, & Tiwari, 2005;Önüt, Kara, & Işik, 2009;Shafiee, 2015;Yüksel & Dağdeviren, 2010).…”
