Abstract

This book would not exist without my dear friend and colleague Jonathan Waterlow (Edinburgh). I am deeply grateful to him for our many discussions; his insightful questions and critical interventions atimportant junctures helped me to understand what kind of book I truly wanted to write and to never lose sight of what is important throughout the project.
