Near infrared light mediated photochemotherapy for efficiently treating deep orthotopic tumors guided by ultrasound imaging

Abstract: Recently, Combined cancer photothermal-chemotherapy has become a highly promising strategy in cancer treatment for its enhanced therapeutic efficacy, controlled drug release and reduced systemic toxicity. Almost all the reported strategies based on photothermal-chemotherapy have only focused on the treatment of superficial or subcutaneous cancer, which are not considered as a more clinically relevant and better predictive models of drug efficacy than orthotopic tumor models. Here, we reported an EphB4 receptor… Show more

“…Nanotechnology offers great advantages to construct various contrast agents for different imaging modalities, in particular radionuclide-labeled nanoparticles (NPs) for molecular imaging (Xing et al., 2014 ; Li et al., 2016 ; Wang et al., 2017 ; Zhou et al., 2018 ). It is worth noting that dendrimers can effectively load different kinds of radionuclides and other imaging moieties for hybrid imaging such as PET/CT and SPECT/CT, due to its unique features including precise molecular structures, multiple surface functional groups, convenient surface modifications, and excellent biocompatibility (Zhao et al., 2017 ).…”

“…In order to investigate the in vivo distribution, AG@BSP-VES micelles (AG, 10 mg/kg) were further labeled with DIR (a near infrared fluorescent fuel). The subcutaneous (CT26 cells) and in situ (CT26-Luc cells with the expression of insect luciferase) tumor models were established based on previous studies ( 35 ). Briefly, BABL/C mouse were anesthetized and its abdominal cavity was cut longitudinally to expose colon tissues.…”
