Negotiating class, ethnicity and modernity: the ‘Malaynisation’ of P. Ramlee and his films

Abstract: Early Malaysian national cinema disseminates a social reconstruction process aimed at reconstructing Malay supremacy at the centre of a specific geographical, political, economic and cultural space.
