Antiviral therapies that target herpesviruses are clinically important. Nelfinavir is a protease inhibitor that targets the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections aspartyl protease. Previous studies demonstrated that this drug could also inhibit Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) production.
