Neoadjuvant and Adjuvant Chemotherapy of Cervical Cancer

Abstract: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy is indicated in patients who can tolerate the side effects of a chemotherapy and with preoperative presentation of one of the following clinical risk situations: bulky disease with a maximal tumor diameter of > 4 cm, suspicious lymph nodes in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) scan or endosonography, histopathologically confirmed lymph node metastasis, or histopathologically documented risk factors such as G3 and L1V1. A neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by surg… Show more

“…So far, considering the fact that the clinical stage of early cervical cancer in situ is low, surgical excision of the uterus is mainly used to prevent the spread of cancer cells. If necessary, relevant radiotherapy and chemotherapy can be assisted before and after surgery to consolidate the treatment effect and improve the prognosis of survival time ( 8 - 10 ). At present, clinical studies have not yet clarified the specific pathology of cervical cancer.…”

“…The clinical efficacy of patients after treatment was evaluated, the evaluation criteria are complete remission (CR, the lesions completely subsided for more than one month), partial remission (PR, the lesion has shrunk >50% for more than one month, and there is no trend of new lesions appearing, growing, or becoming serious), and uncontrolled (NC, the enlargement or reduction of the lesion is less than 50%, or discovery of the emergence, growth, and severity of new lesions) [ 13 ]. Total effective rate = (CR + PR)/total number Ă— 100%.…”

“…The analysis of cancer biomarkers that can be differentially expressed in the presence of this severe disease is an enormous challenge for researchers. Despite routine cytological screening programmes and the availability of multiple modalities of treatment, late-stage disease is associated with a poor outcome [2,3]. There is an urgent need to develop novel molecular therapeutic targets for the treatment of precancerous lesions and cervical cancer to reduce its mortality.…”
