Neochlorogenic acid enhances the antitumor effects of pingyangmycin via regulating TOP2A

Abstract: Neochlorogenic acid (NCA), a natural compound found in honeysuckle, possesses prominent anti-inflammatory and antitumor effects. Pingyangmycin (PYM) induces DNA damage and has been used for the treatment of oral and maxillofacial tumors. Oral care serves an important role in promoting wound healing during chemotherapy in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Therefore, the present study aimed to analyze the effects of NCA and PYM on OSCC cells and to investigate the potential underlying mechanism.… Show more

“…The main peak at m / z 191 suggested the loss of the caffeic acid group, while the peak at m / z 179 indicated the loss of the quinic acid group ( Figure 3 B). Neochlorogenic acid is a natural polyphenolic compound found in plants, known for its antioxidant, antibacterial, antitumor, and anti-inflammatory properties [ 47 , 48 ]. Furthermore, neochlorogenic acid shows anti-photoaging effects and is an effective agent for skin wrinkle formation and dehydration [ 49 ].…”

“…Neochlorogenic acid is a natural polyphenolic compound found in dried fruits and other various sources of plants [ 27 ]. Neochlorogenic acid have functions on scavenging free radicals, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antitumor activities [ 27 , 28 ]. It has already been established that a positive correlation between the antioxidant capacities prevents UV-induced skin damage [ 29 ], and that neochlorogenic acid is expected as a bioactive compound with anti-photoaging activity.…”

“…In addition, there are no reports of the pharmacological activity of cryptochlorogenic acid except for one case of anti-inflammatory activity to date [42]. Neochlorogenic acid, a less-studied isomer of chlorogenic acid, has been reported to have antioxidant activity and anticancer effects [43,44]. Kaempferol has been reported to be associated with neuroprotective, antiinflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial activity [45,46].…”
