“…Pharmacological studies showed that phenolic glycosides from Baihe such as regaloside A (RA) and regaloside I (RI) (Kwon et al, ; Lee, Yun, Jang, & Kim, ), xanthones from Zhimu [e.g. neomangiferin (NG) and mangiferin (MG)] (Jangra, Lukhi, Sulakhiya, Baruah, & Lahkar, ; Lim, Kang, Jeong, Choi, & Kim, ; Marquez, Garcia‐Bueno, Madrigal, & Leza, ) as well as steroidal saponins from Zhimu like timosaponin B‐II (TB‐II), anemarsaponin E (AE), timosaponin AIII (TA III) and sarsasapogenin (SP) (Lei et al, ; Lim et al, ; Lu et al, ) have significant anti‐inflammatory properties. Consequently, the above compounds are speculated to be the representative ingredients that contribute to the pharmacodynamic material basis of BZD in depression therapy.…”
