“…Therefore, the late Mesoproterozoic magmatism (ca. 1,150 Ma) represents the maximum depositional age of the metapelite in the southern Kongling terrane are probably well connected with the formation of the Miaowan ophiolite formed in a fore‐arc basin tectonic setting (Deng et al., 2017; Jiang et al., 2016; Lu et al., 2020).…”

“…980–1,000 Ma Island Arc Tholeiite‐affinity (IAT) diabasic intrusion (Deng et al., 2017; Jiang et al., 2012). Metapelite occurs as tectonic slices that are associated with the basalt of the late Mesoproterozoic Miaowan ophiolite complex (Deng et al., 2017; Jiang et al., 2016), in addition, metaplite is located at the boundary of late Mesoproterozoic ophiolite and Archean‐Paleoproterozoic paragneiss (Figure 1c). Paragneiss is exposed in the vicinity of Xiaoyucun area (Figures 1b and 1c), and roughly classified into the Archean Gucunping formation according to the previous regional geological surveys.…”

“…Although the exact position of the Yangtze Block in Rodinia is still debated (Li et al, 1995;Zheng et al, 2008Zheng et al, , 2013Li and Evans, 2011;Cawood et al, 2013Cawood et al, , 2016, a consensus has recently been achieved that a tectonic switch from oceanic subduction (ca. 1100-850 Ma;Deng et al, 2016;Xu et al, 2016;Wu et al, 2019;Zhou et al, 2019) to continental rifting (ca. 800-700 Ma; Zheng et al, 2008Zheng et al, , 2009Fu et al, 2013;He et al, 2016) occurred in the northern margin of the Yangtze Block Zhang et al, 2019).…”

“…Recent studies suggest that a Late Mesoproterozoic arc system developed along the western and northern margins of the Yangtze Block (Qiu et al 2011;Deng et al 2017;Hu et al 2017). In the northern margin of the Yangtze Block, the Shennongjia volcanic sequence (c. 1103 Ma) is proposed to have developed in an island-arc setting based on an understanding that calc-alkaline rocks are restricted to subduction settings (Qiu et al 2011).…”

Furthermore, the gabbros within the Miaowan ophiolite (c. 1002 to 973 Ma) exhibit arc geochemical signatures with negative Nb-Ta-Ti anomalies, supporting an island-arc setting or an active continental margin (Deng et al 2017). In the western Yangtze Block, gabbros from the c. 1066 Ma (SHRIMP U-Pb) Shimian SSZ-type ophiolite display similar geochemical characteristics to back-arc basin basalt (BABB), suggesting a back-arc setting associated with oceanic subduction (Hu et al 2017).…”
