Neotectonics of Boroujerd Area, SW Iran by Index of Active Tectonics

Abstract: Boroujerd area has located in the border zone of Zagros mountain and Sanandaj-Sirjan belt in the southwest Iran. Six geomorphic indices were calculated in the study area. Through averaging these indices we obtain index of active tectonics (Iat). The values of the index were divided into classes to define the degree of active tectonics. Therefore, relative tectonic activity was calculated and their values were classified and analyzed in two groups. Regions were identified as low and moderate levels. In analyzin… Show more

“…Based on previous work on the salt and mud diapirism [11]- [30] and neotectonic regime in Iran [31]- [36], Zagros in south Iran is the most active zone [37]- [76]. Then, Alborz [77]- [123] and Central Iran [124]- [152] have been situated in the next orders. Thus, the study area has been affected by an important regional shortening, but this research tried to evaluate levels of relative tectonic activities in a wider region by using of six geomorphic indices.…”

“…The study area is located between longitudes 47˚30'E -48˚30'E and latitudes 34˚N -35˚N in the Kermanshah province, west Iran. Based on previous work on the salt and mud diapirism [12]- [22] and neotectonics regime in Iran [23]- [28], Zagros in south Iran is the most active zone [29]- [41]. Then, Alborz [42]- [75] and Central Iran [76]- [88] have been situated in the next orders.…”
