SYCHROVÁ LUCIE: Measuring the eff ectiveness of marketing activities use in relation to company size. Acta Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2013, LXI, No. 2, pp. 493-500 The aim of this paper is to research the relationship between measurements of eff ectiveness of marketing activities and company size. An analysis of the economic sources, professional publications, analysis and reports of previous research shows that the concept of measuring of eff ectiveness is one of the key themes, which economists always pay much attention. It is a criterion that helps to rationally decide on the use limited resources to meet the needs that are not limited. This topic deals with numerous domestic and foreign literatures. The authors are not only diff erent concepts of eff ectiveness, but also the using terminology. There are multiple defi nitions of terms "eff ectiveness" For the same purpose and meaning. The same concept is o en defi ned semantically diff erent. Therefore, every company has a strong interest to be in all their activities more eff ectively than the competition. Logical response to changes and requirements of nowadays is using a combination of lot of methods to measure marketing eff ectiveness. Methods used for this article includes two phases. The fi rst it was gained date by primary research, using a structure questionnaire and processed by statistical so ware SPSS. Research sample consists 115 companies operating in the Czech environment, which was chosen at random. There is investigated the correlation between measuring the eff ectiveness of marketing activities and company size. The second part investigated the dependence between the choice of metrics used to measure the eff ectiveness and company size. The results of the research showed that there is no correlation between measuring the eff ectiveness of marketing activities and company size. The value of Pearson Chi-Square test is greater than 0.05, it is 0.187. We can presume that dependency does not exist or it is small for these. Value of Symmetric measures is 0.432, which means that the intensity tends to be small rather than high.

Brun., 2011, LIX, No. 4, pp. 71-78 This paper focuses on the study of the role and importance of strategic alliances for small and medium enterprises. The purpose of the paper is to point out the conditions for making these cooperative relationships. This study is based on expert literature, mainly in foreign languages, which off ers a relatively detailed breakdown of this topic. The research itself contributes to enhancement of knowledge by summarising the key aspects of strategic co-operation and presentation of the approach of two Czech enterprises by means of a case study. The fi rst case study presents a small business with a development and growth strategy based mainly on strategic co-operation. However, despite positive examples many enterprises do not make any alliances, and their business relations can be described as "traditional". The second case study presents an example of such an enterprise and its approach to co-operation. Thanks to the two diff erent viewpoints it is possible to arrive at a better idea about co-operation and to discover the factors that limit the creation of strategic co-operation. The fi nal part of the work summarises the motifs -both active and passive approach -in making alliances and emphasizing some specifi cs of alliances. Acta Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2013, LXI, No. 7, pp. 2021-2031 This paper represents a pilot study examining entrepreneurial behavior patterns within the area of development of micro, small and medium-sized market active enterprises in South Moravian Region from the perspective of strategic management. The main aim of this article is to classify the enterprises by the character of development activities into relatively homogeneous groups and identify those activities that contribute to considerable diff erences between the individual groups. Empirical evidence is based on a quantitative survey in terms of a random choice of respondents obtained by means of an e-mail questionnaire. The major analytic procedure applied within this research comprises methods of Cluster Analysis and validation technique based on chi-square and G-square nonparametric tests for testing diff erences (independence) of variables between the clusters. By means of Cluster Analysis three relatively homogenous SME groups were identifi ed. The fi rst cluster, called "global", (approximately 6% of the respondents) prevails in most of the strategic development aspects of the researched enterprises. Global SMEs rely on development activities in the area of product innovations and risk diversifi cation into other activities. In terms of changes in functional strategies this involves primarily the area of new technology and human resources development, and the ability to benefi t from participation in networks of cooperating organizations. The second cluster, called "transition", (approximately 59% of the respondents) is developed mainly by means of investments in business specifi c knowledge, and/or in technical skills of their employees. They are more conservative in the area of product innovations and risk diversifi cation into other activities, which is then refl ected in a lower level of investments in technologies and marketing. In comparison with global enterprises the major diff erence lies in a much lower number of activities in the area of seeking cooperation with other enterprises. The third cluster, called "local", (approximately 35% of the respondents) chooses the way of product innovations whose supply is mostly composed of standardized products and services, especially in local or regional markets.
