“…Because Glyphithyreus is known from the Paleocene of Pakistan (Collins and Morris, 1978), it is thus the earliest known occurrence of the family and subfamily. The Panopeinae Ortmann, 1893, was previously known to have a well established Eocene record (Casadío et al, in review (Beurlen, 1939), as Plagiolophus; G. wetherelli (Bell, 1858), as Plagiolophus (¼ G. affinis Reuss, 1859).…”

“…Isolated fossil chelae similar to Ctenocheles are found in several localities and may belong to homarids, but the absence of a preserved carapace and the smaller manus support the suggestion that they belong to Ctenocheles as indicated by Glaessner (1948). Such chelae are described as Ischnodactylus by Pelseneer (1886) from the Maastrichtian of the Netherlands and by Rathbun (1936) from the Danian (Midway) and Eocene (Jackson) of Alabama and Mississippi, further as Thaumastocheles by Beurlen (1939) from the Oligocene of Hungary, as Oncopareia by Mertin (1941) from the Upper Senonian of Braunschweig in Germany and as Ctenocheles by Glaessner (1948) from the Eocene of Victoria in Australia.
