Neuropsychology and the Neurophysiology of Perceptual Microgenesis

Abstract: Perception is one of the psychological operations that can be analyzed from the point of view of microgenetic theory. Our study tests the basic premise of microgenesis theory – the existence of recurrent stages of visual information processing. The event related potentials in two variants of a cued GO/NOGO task (contrasting images of Animals and Plants in the first variant, and contrasting images of Angry and Happy faces in the second variant) were studied during the first 300 ms following stimulus pre… Show more

“…However, there are some case reports on specific technology applications, such as: brain-computer interface or cyber-eye [13,14]. The authors believe that natural methods which build human-human relations and nonverbal communication observation, which even amongst healthy represents up to 90% of all communication [3,5,17], are neglected in the light of the recent technology-focused approach. Among patients who do not show any signs of verbal contact, body language is the only channel available in order to convey personal information and needs.…”

“…Finally, the sex hormone level data, such as testosterone, estrogen and progesterone were not included in the results, which may provide more insight into the effects of hormone levels on brain activity and cognitive functions. Our results might be interpreted according to microgenetic theory of brain function (Pachalska, Góral-Pólrola, Mueller & Kropotov 2017).…”

“…In the context of these results, the presented observation that women living in smaller towns have fewer disturbances in sexual functioning and relationship with a partner than residents of large cities, may indicate the protective role of smaller, somewhat more inclusive communities for the better functioning of women equally in the area of sexual health. This findings might be interpreted according to microgenetic theory, which included the favorauble effects of environmental factors in symptom formation [37], that is in our research the sexual dysfunction after surgery due to brest cancer. 2) The higher risk for sexual dysfunction can affect women following mastectomy, compared to women following breast-conserving surgery, women following breast surgery on the side of the dominant hand, and women qualified for treatment with a poorer overall functioning level, that is ≥ 1 point on the Zubrod scale.…”
