Neutrino trapping in braneworld extremely compact stars

Abstract: Extremely Compact Stars (ECS) contain trapped null geodesics. When such objects enter the evolution period admitting geodetical motion of neutrinos, certain part of neutrinos produced in their interior will be trapped influencing their neutrino luminosity and thermal evolution. We study neutrino trapping in the braneworld ECS, assuming uniform distribution of neutrino emissivity and massless neutrinos. We give the efficiency of the neutrino trapping effects in the framework of the simple model of the internal … Show more

“…In the S(a)dS spacetimes the internal and external geometry are smoothly matched at the surface radius x, similarly to the case of Schwarzschild spacetimes (y = 0) and contrary to braneworld spacetimes [16,43], where the tidal effects of the bulk space are reflected by the "derivative jump" in the matching surface [13]. The ECS of the S(a)dS type are simply given by the condition…”

“…3 for details). Similarly to [52,43] we define two radii of ECS internal space that are relevant for the trapping effect. The "internal" radius r b(i) where the value of the internal effective potential is equal to its value at surface of the star, and the "external" radius r b(e) where the value of the internal effective potential is equal to the value of the external effective potential at r = 3.…”
