Neutron Radiation, Radiation Measurement and the JLab APEX Experiment

Abstract: The A Experiment (APEX), which is approved to run at the Thomas Jefferson Accelerator Facility (JLab) Hall A, will search for a new vector boson that is hypothesized to be a possible force carrier that couples to dark matter. APEX results should be sensitive to the mass range of 65 MeV to 550 MeV, and high sensitivity will be achieved by means of a high intensity ∼ 100 µA beam on a ∼ 0.3 g/cm 2 Tungsten target resulting in very high luminosity.
