New 2-Benzoxazolinone Derivatives with Cytotoxic Activities from the Roots of Acanthus ilicifolius

Abstract: Four new 2-benzoxazolinone-type alkaloids (acanthosides A-D) along with three known ones were isolated from the roots of Acanthus ilicifolius. Their structures were established by detailed interpretation of one dimensional (1D)- and two dimensional (2D)-NMR as well as high-resolution electrospray ionization (ESI)-MS data. The antiproliferative activities of these compounds were evaluated in vitro against three cultured cancer cell lines. The new compounds exhibited different levels of cytotoxicity against the … Show more

“…On research Zhao et al (2015) using the roots of the jeruju plant (Acanthus ilicifolius) to determine the cytotoxic activity of Acanthus ilicifolius in vitro from new isolates against HepG2, HeLa, and A-549 cancer cell lines by NMR analysis method and isolation using HPLC. The extraction method used is by maceration.…”

“…Based on Table 1, most experts choose analysis methods using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy, among others, namely (Bhattarai et al, 2022;Kanchanapoom et al, 2001;Tian et al, 2021;Zhao et al, 2015) Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy is a spectroscopic method that is very useful in determining the structure of a chemical compound, both proton (1H) and carbon (13C) NMR. This method is based on the magnetic moment of the atomic nucleus.…”

“…mass 560.1380 for C 24 H 27 NO 13 Na + ), indicating a molecular formula of C 24 H 27 NO 13 , and 12 degrees of unsaturation. 1 H-NMR (600 MHz, CD 3 OD) spectrum of compound 1 (Table 1 2); [9] The HMBC correlations of δ ). [10] By comparing with the data in the literature, the 13 C-NMR data of compound 1 exhibited C-2 (δ 98.34) and C-1' (δ 105.58), allowing the determination of the absolute configuration of 1 as 2 S. Accordingly, the structure of 1 was determined and named zealisnge A.…”

“…The assay was carried out according to a reported method. [9] Hep3B and SW480 cells were cultivated in RPMI 1640 medium, which was enriched with 10 % fetal bovine serum (v/v), penicillin G sodium (100 U mL À 1 ), and streptomycin sulfate (100 μg mL À 1 ). The cells were cultured in a humidified atmosphere containing 5 % CO 2 at 37 °C.…”
