New all solid‐state polymer electrolyte based on epoxy resin and ionic liquid for high temperature applications

Abstract: Flexible epoxy network loaded with high amount of ionic liquid (IL) 1‐decyl‐3‐methylimidazolium bromide ([DMIM]Br) has been reported by using a mixture of polyol amine as curing agent. The IL presents good electrochemical response even at 170 °C, as no evidence of redox reactions was observed. The incorporation of as high as 50 wt % of this IL within the epoxy matrix resulted in solid and flexible electrolyte with good thermal stability below 180 °C, as measured by thermogravimetric analysis and ionic conducti… Show more

“…[17] Oliveira da Silva used an epoxy resin loaded with 50 wt %[ DMIM]Br (DMIM = 1-decyl-3-methylimidazolium) ionic liquid and achieveda ni onic conductivity > 10 À3 Scm À1 at 50 8C. [18] Yoshima et al used ap olyacrylonitrile (PAN)-based crosslinked gel blended with Li 7 La 3 Zr 2 O 12 (LLZ) as ahybrid electrolyte,w hich exhibited ac onductivity of 5.97 mS cm À1 at 25 8C, higher than that of the PAN-based gel electrolyte. [19] Falco et al appliedaUV-light-induced crosslinking process to prepareacomposite electrolyte of LLZ in aP EO/tetraglyme matrix.…”

“…Without it, macroscale/gross phase separation occurred during curing, resulting in formation of two very distinct phases, an epoxy rich top and an IL rich bottom layer. However, blends of neat DGEBA with ILs are generally reported to be stable enough to form homogeneous samples [11,21]. In this work, the IL (EMIM-TFSI) concentration was varied in the initial formulations from 10 to 60 vol% without any evidence for macroscale/gross phase separation.…”
