New Approach in Integrated Basin Modelling: Melen Airborne LIDAR

Abstract: Airborne LIDAR technology which has an increasing importance in recent years, has entered into the field of application of many disciplines by obtaining fast and highly accurate 3D data. It provides precise topography information with dense point cloud data as well as all details on the surface. Thus, it has become useful in all disciplines associated with space such as cartography, construction, city planning, forest, energy, hydrology, geology, transportation, telecommunications, security, disaster, aviation… Show more

“…The Sylhet basin, which is a low-lying subsiding area attracts the rivers from both east and west sides. Even the Surma and Kushiyara rivers are found to be shifted westward to feed the deepest basin area (BHWDB, 2012;Gazioğlu, 2018;Büyüksalih & Gazioğlu, 2019). Sediment concentration and its distribution are also responsible for shaping the morphology of the area.…”

“…In the recent past, the interest in accurate and detailed 3D building data acquired by airborne LIDAR systems has been growing. Building Information Modelling (BIM), snow load capacity estimating and modelling and solar potential analysis can be given as examples of application areas for building detection (Jochem et al, 2009;Büyüksalih and Gazioğlu, 2019). Today, solar energy can be produced on the rooftops of private houses as easily as in energy companies after detecting proper building roofs.…”

“…International Journal of Environment and Geoinformatics 7(2):120-126 (2020) Reaserch Article How to cite: Rafiu., et al, (2020) According Nigerian national Building Code of 2006, building height shall mean the vertical distance from grade to the top of the highest roof beams or coping of a flat roof, or to the average height of the highest gable of a pitched or hipped roof. The height of a stepped or terraced building is the maximum height of any segment of the building (Aydar, et al, 2016;Büyüksalih, et al, 2019;Büyüksalih and Gazioğlu, 2019). Considering the inherent problem with this, it is high time, the use of spatial data and visualisation technique are being deployed in setting building height limits around the airports.…”
