Abstract:An improved sliding mode control (SMC) strategy for the attitude control problem of a nonlinear spacecraft with an elastic appendage is investigated. Since conventional sliding mode controllers include a discontinuous function, a significant problem called chattering can occur. In this study, a new switching function is used to minimize the effects of chattering, which will excite critical oscillations in the modal coordinate. The designed controller is derived using Lyapunov's second method, which keeps a sys… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
