“…The adventive Xyleborinus attenuatus (Blandford) was first reported from North America by Mudge et al (2001) from the northwestern USA, followed by reports from BC, the northeastern USA, PE, NS, and QC (Douglas et al 2013). This species is now widespread and locally abundant in NB (numerous individuals captured in Lindgren funnel traps at Odell Park during 2014 and 2015; only a few were vouchered).…”

“…Traps baited with host volatiles such as ethanol and α-pinene, as well as pheromones of Ips spp., have been used for surveillance of exotic bark and wood-boring beetles in the United States and Canada for more than a decade Douglas et al, 2013) and have been reasonably successful at detecting exotic Scolytinae (8 among 18 exotic Scolytinae detected in survey traps between 1985 and 2005) but unsuccessful for species in the Cerambycidae or Buprestidae (0 of 7 species combined, for both families) (Haack 2006). Thus, there is room for improvement in trapping programs for surveillance and early detection of exotic bark and wood-boring beetles.…”
