Internet addiction takes on different forms and is an important issue for diagnostic and preventive reasons. This paper sets out to diagnose the scale of problematic use of Internet (PIU) in the context of symptoms and mechanisms of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). For this purpose, triangulation of the following research tools was applied: Social Media Intensity Scale, Fear of Missing Out Scale, Summary of Social Media Use, Social Media Usage Urges, the Bergen Facebook Addiction Scale. To picture the scale of FOMO and accompanying PIU behaviors, data from 717 students in Sarajevo and Mostar cantons (Bosnia and Herzegovina) were collected. The research was conducted in 2 nd half of 2017. Based on this data, we can see that about 20% of young respondents (average age of 13 years) show several FOMO symptoms, whereas another 30% belong are at risk of being addicted to Internet. The remaining 50% of students are not at risk of IAT. These criteria vary due to lack of unified tools to measure FOMO. However, it has been observed that FOMO is minimized by some forms of leisure activity and does not depend on gender.

Digital literacy and e-learning experiences among the pre-service teachers data

The data show different issues connected with the digital literacy of pre-service teachers. The data were collected in 2019 among 450 teachers of pedagogical studies in Poland. The research was conducted in the biggest Polish university that trains educational staff, the Pedagogical University of Cracow. The data describe issues related to the self-evaluation of digital literacy in using text editors, spreadsheets, and presentation and graphic software. They also describe experiences with e-learning: participation in obligatory online classes, searching for information on the Internet, participation in paid and free e-learning courses, and participation in informal study groups.

Skills in the area of digital safety as a key component of digital literacy among teachers

The goal of the research was to assess the level of Digital Literacy (DL) among teachers. The study was diagnostic in order to show DL in six selected key areas: the ergonomics of using ICT, assessing the credibility of information, secure online communication, maintaining anonymity in the digital world, safe logging-in, and intellectual property. DL was measured using a knowledge and competence test. The study was conducted in Poland in 2017/2018 among 701 primary school teachers (primary being the second stage of education). Based on the data collected, we have noticed the following: DL is a heterogeneous concept; the respondents possess the lowest level of knowledge in the area of intellectual property law and know the most about ergonomics; gender does not determine the level of knowledge and competencies in the group. Furthermore, the Dunning-Kruger effect is noticeable among the teachers, in the context of evaluation of DL related to digital safety. We also need to emphasise that for teachers, DL is one of the key protective factors in digital safety, viewed holistically, in schools. Thus, diagnosing and facilitating the development of DL has become one of the key challenges faced by schools today.
