New energy levels, calculated lifetimes and transition probabilities in Xe IX

Abstract: Twenty-one new experimental energy levels belonging to the 4d96p, 4d94f and 4d95f configurations of Xe IX are presented. They have been deduced from 75 newly classified lines involving the configurations 4d95p, 4d96p, 4d94f, 4d95f and 4d95d, 4d95s, 4d96s for the odd and even parities, respectively. The radiative lifetimes of these levels as well as the weighted oscillator strengths and transition probabilities for all the observed spectral lines have been calculated with optimized parameters deduced from a lea… Show more

“…In order to continue the study of the six and seven times ionized xenon spectrum, a new spectral analysis of these ions is presented in this work. This study is a continuation of our research on different xenon ion spectra using gases pulsed electrical discharges [40][41][42][43] (and references therein). We used experimental data of the xenon spectrum covering the wavelength range 230-7000 Å for the UV-Visible region.…”

“…In our work, we modified the electric dipole matrix elements to take core polarization effects into account. Other extensive calculation and studies on noble gas ions including this effect were also carried out by Biémont and co-workers [22][23][24][25]. In this last case, all the radial wave functions were also modified by a model potential, including one-and two-body core-polarization contributions, together with a core-penetration correction.…”

“…Thus, knowledge of the spectral analysis corresponding to different involved ions, is necessary to understand the population mechanisms responsible for most of the classified laser xenon transitions. Pulsed discharges have been used in La Plata to produce laser action at UV, visible, and infrared (IR) wavelengths corresponding to Xe III, Xe V, Xe VII, Xe VIII [30][31][32][33], Xe VI, and Xe IX [16,25]. In these investigations, time-resolved experiments were also done and relativistic Hartree-Fock calculations were also performed to obtain weighted lifetimes and radiative transition rates.…”
