“…Male Sprague-Dawley rats (350-400 g) were injected with heparin (300 U/rat, intraperitoneally) and anesthetized (pentobarbital, 30 mg/rat, intraperitoneally) 30 min before the removal of the heart. The excised hearts were immediately immersed in an ice-cold saline solution and quickly mounted, through their aorta, onto a Langendorff perfusion system adapted for use with the NMR apparatus (18).
